I’ve been looking for the right deal on one of these 14 inch band saws for a while. I’ve had to pass up several good deals for various reason but I finally found one when I had the money to buy it!
It’s a nice early version with the round delta badge. It’s mostly complete. It has the solid steel wheels which was something I was looking for. This saw is definitely a keeper!

Me and my father are looking to find out more about our old Delta 14″ wood/metal bandsaw. My grandfather bought it for $25 many years ago and restored it. It works and looks great and we even have the original DoAll blade repair welder. Our biggest question is that when we are looking at the limited number of pics online we don’t see one like his. For one our saw has a handle inside the drive guard that can disengage the motor drive to the belt drive. The second is that we have an oil reservoir on the front of the machine for the transmission. Other then that the pics above look the same. same Delta decal. Any info is greatly appreciated. Email to msbolduc@gmail.com. Thanks!
I just found band saw with a name plate that says delta milwaukee and the serial number plate says it comes from the delta power tool division and was made by rockwell manufacturing. the serial number on it is au727. I am trying to find out when it was made and what size it is and any other information i can get on it.
thanks
steve
Do you know what model the saw is in the photos above? I have the same saw but cannot find the serial number on it.
Chris, the really early machines by Delta don’t have serial number tags anywhere – it was before they started doing that. An easy way to determine the period of the machine is to look at the manufacturers tag. The early Delta tag is round with the art-deco look to it. Hope that helps!
Luke
Steve, if you call Delta and tell them the serial number they can tell you the month/date it was made as well as send you a photocopy of the manual/parts-list for it.
Luke
Hello,
I have been looking for an old Delta 14″ stand mounted late 1940′s 28-207 bandsaw for some time now, what would you say is a fair price range for a unit in good working condition. I know this is tough but a rough idea will be fine. Thanks.
I have a little 28-110, 10″ Delta Homecraft bandsaw from ~1950. I bought it as a box of parts and restored it about 25 yrs It is still going strong. For a smaller shop, this saw is a good option. It’s made like the older 14″ Delta saw (like the nice example that started this post) with tubular cast iron frame, so it’s a serious tool, not a toy.
I am in the middle of a restoration of old cast iron 14 inch Delta with 2 speed gearbox on open metal stand, bought it a while ago, all working with 3 phase motor. At present trying to get hold of a raising block to increase the cutting height.
Ebay have these machine on them ranging from £50 to £100 each. It is always best to get a pallet delivery anywhere in the UK from £30 delivery mainland only, 3 days service door to door.
What with the price of petrol at almost £6 gallon its much cheaper for delivery.
